Woodridge Residents Invited To Talk Recreational Cannabis Sales
Residents are invited to attend a public meeting on Oct. 3.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge residents are invited to sound off about recreational cannabis sales and cultivation at an upcoming public hearing on Oct. 3. The village will present statistics, take comments, and review email feedback before moving forward with a decision to opt in or out of allowing cannabis sales in Woodridge.
As of Jan. 1, 2020 it will be legal for adults 21 and older to buy and use marijuana recreationally. This leaves many municipalities with a shore timeframe to decide whether to opt out of sales and potentially miss out on getting a cannabis sales license or to opt into sales and reap more tax income, but require more policing.
Woodridge's neighbors are already on the brink of opting out. Naperville voted to opt out and a majority of Lisle's Board of Trustees gave direction to opt out as well.
