Woodridge Tornado Damage: 400 Homes Hit, 29 Destroyed
As of Thursday, 157 homes had suffered "major damage" and 29 homes were deemed uninhabitable.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A total of 400 homes were damaged when Sunday's EF-3 tornado swept through Woodridge, village officials reported Thursday.
After inspectors assessed damage to more than 850 homes in the tornado's path of destruction, they released the following statistics:
- 400 homes sustained tornado damage
- 157 homes sustained "major damage"
- 29 homes deemed a "complete loss"

A group of 21 volunteers went door to door in the area that was hit hard by the tornado and handed out information about building permits, aid resources and debris collection. Click the link to learn more about tornado debris pickup in Woodridge.
Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham was joined by Senator John Curran and Illinois Emergency Management Agency Director Alicia Tate-Nadeau Wednesday as she visited tornado damage sites in the village and offered words of encouragement.

Residents impacted by the tornado can visit a Multi-Agency Resource Center for information about how to cope and move forward in the aftermath of the twister. The resource center will be open June 26 and June 27 at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, 7200 Janes Ave.
