Illinois Sees Big Drop In Foreclosures In 2018
in February, foreclosure filings in Illinois saw a big year-over-year decrease.

Foreclosure activity in the U.S. in February decreased both over the past year and over the past month, according to ATTOM data. Illinois followed this trend and had a year-over-year decrease in foreclosure filings for February.
In the Prairie State, foreclosure activity was down 37 percent year-over-year and decreased more than 17 percent when compared to January. Illinois currently has the sixth-highest foreclosure rate in the country. So far, that's better than 2017, when Illinois had the fourth-highest rate.

Which state has the highest rate? Though New Jersey has also seen a year-over-year decrease, it takes the top spot with it comes to the rate of foreclosure. Meanwhile, North Dakota has the lowest foreclosure rate, according to the ATTOM data.
In February 2018, there were 3,712 foreclosure filings in Illinois, or one in every 1,431 properties had a foreclosure filing.
