MONTICELLO, IN — It has been a roller coaster of a year for the Indiana Beach Amusement & Water Park Resort, which appears to be back before anyone had a chance to notice it was gone.

The park's Facebook page changed its profile photo last week from the logo with a note indicating it is "permanently closed" to the same image with the word "permanently" crossed out. It remains closed now amid the new coronavirus pandemic and it's unclear whether plans are to be open this summer.

The Facebook page had been teasing a possible reopening for the past week or so, with the Central Indiana newspaper "News & Review" sharing a graphic of the beach's famous "IB Crow" mascot spilling a bag of beans earlier this week before they officially broke the news on Thursday. IB Crow was also featured in a post asking fans if they could keep a secret.

An imminent sale was reported earlier this month by the Pharos-Tribune newspaper in Logansport, Indiana. The park's now apparent former owner, the Apex Parks Group, had filed for bankruptcy and in February announced then that many of their amusement parks, including Indiana Beach, would be closed permanently.

Apex purchased Indiana Beach in 2015. Now, it sells the park than many in the Chicagoland area have visited for weekend summer getaways to Gene Staples of Indiana Beach Holdings, LLC, according to a report from the Lafayette Journal & Courier. The Journal & Courier reported in February that talks between Apex and a potential buyer were taking place.
