Why Princess Leia? Jeremy Goebel explains the reasoning behind his maze choice and the production process.

EVANSVILLE, IN — "Star Wars" fans can unite at Goebel Farms this weekend when the Evansville farm opens a Carrie Fisher-themed corn maze, the Courier & Press reports. From an overhead view, the maze is a clear version of the face of Princess Leia, Fisher's most iconic film character, as seen in the Twitter screenshot.

The Courier & Press reports the maze was created in February, more than a month after Fisher's December 2016 death, adding the maze's designer and planter, Jeremy Goebel, is a "Star Wars" fan who wanted to pay tribute to Fisher. Although the maze creation process is done mostly on computers these days, Goebel has designed the farm's corn mazes for the past 16 years.

According to the newspaper, this process includes Goebel taking a photo, using Photoshop to trace a design similar to the photo then uploading it to a tractor computer that uses GPS to plant the maze.
