'Stranger Things' Corn Maze Opens At Lafayette Exploration Acres

LAFAYETTE, IN, — Exploration Acres, Northwest Indiana’s largest corn maze and pumpkin patch, has opened the 2018 season with a new attraction fans of the Netflix hit series "Stranger Things" will want to experience. Exploration Acres has created a "Stranger Things"-themed corn maze in their Lafayette site, at 6042 Newcastle Road, and according to Tim Fitzgerald, President and CEO of Exploration Acres, it's the largest attraction they've attempted to date.

“After binge-watching the entire 'Stranger Things' series last year, I knew we had a unique opportunity to create an immersive environment for fans at our farm,” Fitzgerald said.

But that's not all. The 20-acre maze is equivalent to 15 football fields, with available paths totaling more than 10 miles and a dynamic design featuring familiar "Stranger Things" images — along with surprises, according to a release from Exploration Acres.

Once the maze design was finalized, state-of-the-art GPS equipment was used to plant the maze once its design was finalized, according to Fitzgerald.

“This year, new technology allowed us to plant the maze design like an inkjet printer — dropping seeds into the precise design we imagined,” Fitzgerald said.

From now until Oct. 28, Exploration Acres also offers visitors several fun activities for the whole family, including an 11-acre pick-your-own pumpkin patch, fire pit rentals, hayrides, and local vendors selling food and beverages on-site.
