Visit These Local 2017 Great American Beer Festival Winners
MORE: Several Indianapolis breweries are included in the list of Indiana beer winners at 2017 Great American Beer Festival.

Need plans this weekend? You might want to visit one - or all - of the eight Indiana breweries recently awarded two Gold, five Silver and three Bronze Awards from the 2017 Great American Beer Festival, according to the festival website. The competition was held in Denver and consisted of five different three-hour judging sessions within three days during the week of this year's festival.

GOLD:

Chilly Water for Smoke on the Lager, Smoke Beer, 719 Virginia Ave #105, Indianapolis
Sun King for Magpie Muckle, Wood & Barrel-Aged Beer, 135 N College Ave, Indianapolis
BRONZE:
Triton for Fieldhouse Wheat, American-style Wheat Beer, 5764 Wheeler Rd, Indianapolis.
Sun King for Cherry Busey, Belgian-style Fruit Beer, 135 N College Ave, Indianapolis
Four Day Ray for Hot Pink, Experimental Beer, 11671 Lantern Rd, Fishers
Here's what each award level means:
Gold - A world-class beer that accurately exemplifies the specified style, displaying the proper balance of taste, aroma and appearance. Silver - An excellent beer that may vary slightly from style parameters while maintaining close adherence to the style and displaying excellent taste, aroma and appearance. Bronze - A fine example of the style that may vary slightly from style parameters and/or have minor deviations in taste, aroma or appearance.

The competition ended on Oct. 8, and interestingly enough, judges are only allowed to evaluate beers based on their area of knowledge and not their own product, or product that may concern them, GABF website says.
