CARMEL, IN — Carmel officials have adopted rules on short-term home rental services like Airbnb as state lawmakers are considering again whether to ban local regulations, IndyStar reports. According to the news outlet, the city's officials say they're working to find a balance between property owner rights regarding renting their homes, and also neighbor concerns.
During the 2017 state legislative session, a bill that prohibits Indiana cities and towns from putting restrictions on short-term rental services narrowly failed.
IndyStar reports Jasper Senator Mark Messmer is sponsoring a similar bill.
