Carmel's Ice At Center Green Closed Due To 'Unsafe' Temperatures

The City of Carmel says the Ice at Center Green is closed Wednesday, Dec. 27 due to 'bitter' cold temperatures: MORE

CARMEL, IN — The City of Carmel says they've decided not to open the Ice at Center Green on Wednesday, Dec. 27 due to the unsafe and bitter temperatures. This decision comes after the city's Christkindlmarkt recently announced the Ice at Center Green skating rink will remain open through Jan. 7, after the Christkindlmarkt closed on Dec. 24. In a tweet, the city said they hope to open (the rink) tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 28) weather permitting.

Once the temperatures "warm up" a bit, the Ice at Center Green will remain open through Jan. 7 from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. This includes skating on New Year's Eve, which Carmel Christkindlmarkt's Facebook page says will stay open until 1 a.m.

This closure follows a Wind Chill Advisory that spanned several Indiana counties Tuesday and Wednesday including Hamilton.
