WESTFIELD, IN -- Westfield police have identified the two people killed in a head-on crash on State Road 32 on Thursday, April 19. According to WISH, Theodore Scherer Jr., 61, and Rhonda Scherer, 51, a married couple from Indianapolis, were killed near Mule Barn Road on the morning of April 19 after a car carrying an adult and child went across the centerline in a no-passing zone, police reported.

According to court documents obtained by Patch, the driver of the car that hit Mr. and Mrs. Scherer was Bridgette A. Elmore, of Sheridan, whose license was suspended when she was cited for driving without a license on March 21. Her court date was set for Thursday, April 26.

A source close to Elmore says she and the child were taken local hospitals as the woman broke several bones, including her leg and ribs. The source adds that the child was released that night following treatment for bumps and bruises.
