Indianapolis Fire, Police Officials: Stay Off Moving Waterways
Indianapolis Fire Department and police department officials warn those in Marion County to stay off moving waterways: MORE

MARION COUNTY -- Officials from the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department/Homeland Security Bureau (IMPD) and Indianapolis EMS are once again reminding everyone to stay off all moving bodies of water across Marion County due to the swollen levels and high currents, in the wake of recent rain.
IFD and IMPD officials say the following update is from 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25:
- White River North - Nora area is at 10.7 feet with projected Monday crest of 12.2 feet. Current is at 13 Knots (nautical miles per hour)
- White River South - Raymond area is at 11.6 feet with projected Monday crest of 12.3 feet. Current at 15.3 Knots
- Fall Creek - 42nd & Keystone area is at 9.0 feet with projected Monday crest of 8.06 feet (already over). Fall Creek is not a navigable recreational waterway at this time.
- River levels will continue to rise through Monday as the downstream effect brings moisture from the north to the area.
Officials say water won't absorb fast enough until the frozen ground thaws, so people in lower areas such as underpasses and those in residential areas might see some slight flooding, but nothing widespread or significant.
