Indy-Based USA Gymnastics Creating Fund For Nassar Abuse Victims

Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics is setting up a fund for athletes abused by sports doctor Larry Nassar: Report

The Associated Press reports Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics has established a fund that it says is designed to assist gymnasts who were victims of former sports doctor Larry Nassar. AP News says the Athlete Assistance Fund was announced Wednesday, in cooperation with the National Gymnastics Foundation. USA Gymnastics president, Kerry Perry, says they want to provide financial support for girls and young woman to access counseling and mental health services, AP News reports.

Investigators said Nassar molested several girls and women as he claimed to be treating them for injuries, with many of the victims being gymnasts.

AP News reports Nassar is serving a 60-year federal prison sentence for child pornography and has also been sentenced twice to at least 40 years in state prison in Michigan for sexual abuse and assaults.
