Man Skips Out On Tab, Leaves Indy Restaurateur Critically Hurt

A man skipping out on a tab at an Indianapolis restaurant attacked the owner, leaving him in critical condition at a local hospital.

AP News reports police say a man who tried to skip out on his dinner bill attacked an Indianapolis restaurant owner who confronted him, leaving the proprietor hospitalized in critical condition. Police say the Tuesday afternoon attack happened at Acapulco Joe's in downtown Indianapolis, leaving 57-year-old Grant Redmond unconscious with a blood clot on his brain that required surgery, AP News reports.

AP News says the incident took place when police say the attacker tried to pay for a tab with a credit card that had been stolen the day before, and was declined. The man said he needed to go withdraw cash, but Redmond grabbed him and was then attacked.
