New Survey On Carmel's Tax Increment Financing Announced

A new comprehensive community survey will be launched Tuesday, January 26, as part of a new study on the City of Carmel’s historic use of Tax Increment Financing to pay for several high-profile redevelopment projects that City leaders feel have become magnets for economic growth and private investment. This new study, being conducted by Community Data Platforms, seeks to provide data to determine if decisions made over the past few decades on projects such as the Palladium, Center for the Performing Arts, Midtown Plaza and other notable redevelopment efforts have produced a good return on investment.

What would you change or add if you could?
How well do you understand TIF … and do you support it as a tool for growth?

These are just a few of the topics covered in the survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete online. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and all responses will be kept confidential. No personally identifiable information will be associated with your responses in any reports of this data.

“We hope Carmel residents will take a few minutes to participate in the survey. We want you to reflect on development and redevelopment projects that the city has undertaken to improve life in the community, along with our partners in private development,” said Mayor Jim Brainard. “Your responses to this survey are very important and will help city leadership understand what is working well and where there may be areas for potential improvement.”

The City has contracted Community Data Platforms, which will create its own community survey panel called Carmel Data Platform. They will handle all data collection and storage. No employee of the city will have access to individual answers and will never be able to determine who answered the survey.
