The delivery truck crashed into a unit at the Canterbury House Apartments in the 7100 block of Lincoln Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

First responders were able to get the driver out and taken to a hospital, but Meuhlbauer was trapped inside the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was injured inside the apartment, which was occupied by a woman and two children at the time of the crash.

Nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution and power was shut off while crews dealt with a risk of collapse.

They asked for assistance from an Evansville Fire Department rescue team.

There was no word on the driver’s identity.
