Apply Now To Be A Fishers Summer Camps Counselor

Fishers Parks and Recreation is now hiring counselors for the city's 2018 Summer Camps. Who should apply, how to apply:

FISHERS, IN -- Do you know someone looking for a summer job? Fishers Parks and Recreation is now hiring 2018 Summer Camp Counselors for their nature and recreation day camps. This position is for those who can provide a safe and exciting environment for youth and preschool campers by leading fun activities such as games, songs, crafts and more. Parks and Rec. officials say counselors will work with each other to plan weekly camp activities for 8 weeks of camp and counselors will be paid $9 an hour.

Fishers Parks and Recreation has released the following information for those interested in this position:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience and ability to work well with children
  • Mature judgment and ability to safely supervise children
  • Current CPR and first aid certification or ability to obtain
  • Ability to work well as part of a team or independently
  • Reliable transportation to and from program sites
  • Must pass a complete criminal history background check

Work hours and dates to know:

  • Work takes place at Holland or Billericay Parks.
  • Work hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning May 23 through Aug. 4, with no camps July 2 through July 6.
  • Take note that work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the weeks of June 4 through June 8 and June 25 through 29, according to Parks and Rec. officials.
  • Additional required dates for work include June 16, July 14, and extended hours on August 3.

Examples of Duties

  • Develop and implement programming schedule for preschool and youth camps using programming guides, provided resources and supplies, and previous experience to formulate daily activity ideas.
  • Make decisions as a group and come to an agreement when planning summer camp schedule.
  • Form a list of supplies needed for entire summer programming and assist the recreation program coordinator in the purchasing process.
  • Implement safety regulations to keep a healthy and secure environment for the children.
  • Assisting at summer special events as needed.

First Aid/CPR training will be offered to those that are hired.
