Nearly $1M In Damage After Fire Destroys East Side Barn

The Indianapolis Fire Department reported the barn fire just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A fire broke out around 4 p.m. Wednesday at an east side barn in the 3100 block of Carroll Road, causing nearly $1 million in damage, according to Indianapolis Fire Department officials. IFD said the fire metal barn, a boat, RV, Harley Davidson motorcycle, five cars and a salon all housed in the structure were destroyed in the flames.

According to IFD, crews were ordered to fight the fire from outside, as the flames completely filled the barn. It took crews one hour and 20 minutes before they could mark the fire under control.

IFD said no one was injured, and the building's owner told investigators that his 16-year-old son reported the fire after he went out to the barn and discovered the refrigerator unit on the RV was on fire. According to IFD, he said the RV was the only thing in the barn that was plugged in.
