Fishers High School Students Pack 10,000 Meals For Community
Fishers High School Students pack thousands of meals at Pack Away Hunger for community members in need: More
FISHERS, IN-- Dozens of Fishers High School students spent some of their Friday packing 10,000 meals at Pack Away Hunger. From 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 43 Fishers High School students packed the meals that will be distributed locally, while learning how hunger impacts our community. This opportunity to make a positive difference in the community is part of a special day at the school called, "Student Choice Day."
Pack Away Hunger is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children and others who suffer from hunger and malnutrition, according to a release. The meals are funded by donations and are packaged and delivered to those in need by local and international hunger relief organizations.
Fishers High School officials say this is the third time the high school has cleared all its class schedules and allow students to pitch learning opportunities. Students have the choice to sign-up for what opportunity they'd like to take from more than 200 different offerings. The meal packing session, which included a lunch break, was possible thanks to donations from local businesses and individuals.
