Fishers Seeks Multi-Million Dollar Expansion For Downtown Amphitheater

Request for amphitheater expansion comes less than five years after venue opening in Nickel Plate District.

FISHERS, IN — Fishers is looking to spend $6 million to expand the downtown amphitheater, less than five years after the $1 million venue opened in the flourishing Nickel Plate District.

Since the amphitheater's opening behind City Hall, the area has welcomed several new apartment buildings, a popular brewery, businesses, restaurants and more.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Star, the city solicited a bid for the multi-million dollar sum, hoping to use the money to expand the amphitheater stage, add covered seating areas, a room for performers, and food truck space.

The expansion plans are intended to welcome more people into the Central Green Park, whether or not a concert event is taking place, as there is currently no permanent seating for concerts or the weekly farmer's markets.

According to Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness, the expansion is necessary because of the growing number of people drawn to the park.

"The crowds are so big that bathrooms are in short supply," Fadness said.

The Mayor also added more than 8,000 tickets for a July 7 concert in the park have been given out.
Fisher's free summer concerts were announced when the amphitheater opened.
