Fishers Winter Wonderland, Tree Lighting To Kick Off Holidays

FISHERS, IN — Fishers Parks & Recreation announces the holiday season will kick off Saturday, Dec. 1 during the popular Winter Wonderland event, which includes the annual tree lighting. According to a release, the free, annual event presented by Fishers Elite Martial Arts will run 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the newly renovated Nickel Plate District Amphitheater, 6 Municipal Drive. Fishers Parks & Recreation said this year's event has extended hours and more activities, including ice carving demonstrations, a petting zoo, live music from Fishers Music Works, activities for children, and more.

According to a release, the annual tree lighting - which is the highlight of the evening - will happen at 6 p.m. Fishers Parks & Recreation said there will be a Sensory Friendly Area available for children and families with special needs.

Those planning on attending Winter Wonderland fun are encouraged by the City of Fishers to donate new adult and children's socks during the Dec. 1 event, which will benefit the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County. The holiday happiness in Fishers also includes these free events hosted by Fishers Parks & Recreation, according to a release:

• Santa’s Mailbox: A Fishers tradition in which children can drop off their letters to Santa in the special mailboxes at the Winter Wonderland event, or in the mailboxes located inside City Hall, 1 Municipal Drive, and the Fishers Parks & Recreation Office, 11565 Brooks School Road, now through Dec. 10. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive a reply from Santa.
• City Light Display: Fishers’ Nickel Plate District is merry and bright with the annual holiday light display in the downtown Municipal Complex, with special thanks to Fishers Department of Public Works for their hard work and to B105.7 for providing holiday music to enjoy all month long.
• Pet Pictures with Santa: The free Pet Pictures with Santa event takes place at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater Pavilion from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Printed photos will be available to purchase from Smiling Dog Photography.
