Former Fishers Police Chief Gets Probation In OWI Plea Deal

Former Fishers Police Chief Mitchell Thompson has to pay fines and complete alcohol counseling, according to report.

FISHERS, IN — As part of a plea deal, former Fishers Police Department Chief Mitchell Thompson plead guilty this week to one charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, IndyStar reported, nearly three months after he was arrested for OWI stemming from a July 27 three-car accident on Keystone Avenue. According to the news report, Thompson and his attorney John Kautzman agreed to a plea deal Tuesday that would put Thompson on probation until he paid fines and completed alcohol counseling, which his lawyer said he's already started.

The plea agreement also dismissed the second of the two charges against Mitchell that were handed down by the Marion County prosecutor's office in August, which was operating a vehicle with an alcohol content level of more than .08.
