Indy-Area Districts Take Part In National School Walkout Event

Students from school districts across Indianapolis take part in the March 14 National School Walkout: Photos

CENTRAL INDIANA -- There were many different scenes across the Indianapolis area on Wednesday, March 14 during the National School Walkout, as teens across Indianapolis and the U.S. walked out of their schools at 10 a.m. for 17 minutes, one minute for each of the 17 students and teachers killed during the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. During this time, students also protested for stricter gun laws.

While there was nothing but parked police cars outside some high schools, there were plenty of students outside others. There wasn't much action outside of Fishers High School (pictured) and Hamilton Southeastern, as students were encouraged to use their freedom of speech and expression in a non-disruptive way.
