More Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile In Hamilton County

The Hamilton County Health Department said positive samples were retrieved July 25 in Westfield, Carmel, Noblesville.

HAMILTON COUNTY, IN — The Hamilton County Health Department reported three additional positive West Nile virus samples Wednesday, contributing to a total count of six positive readings across the county. Health Department Mosquito Control reported the three most recent samples were retrieved on July 25 from mosquitoes at 103rd and New Jersey in Carmel, State Road 38 and Hague in Noblesville, and 181st and US 31 in Westfield.

These are the first positive samples retrieved in Carmel and Westfield this season, according to reports from the health department, as workers sprayed that area in Westfield Wednesday night.

The county's previous three positive samples were located in Fishers and Noblesville.

The health department has scheduled truck spraying for 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26 for the two most recent spots where positive samples were retrieved in Carmel and Noblesville. Spray area maps can be found on the Mosquito Control part of the Hamilton County Health Department website.

According to the website, the department only sprays adulticide for mosquitoes in known areas of positive West Nile Virus activity.
