Parents Encouraged To Attend Event On Opioid Epidemic At Fishers HS

DETAILS: Hamilton County parents are invited to attend 'The Opioid Epidemic in Indiana' discussion Oct. 30, featuring addiction experts.

FISHERS, IN — Hamilton Southeastern Parents in Partnership invite Hamilton County parents to an event centered around the deadly opioid epidemic. HSE Parents in Partnership presents Parents Awareness Night, The Opioid Epidemic in Indiana, Monday, Oct. 30, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fishers High School Auditorium, 13000 Promise Road. The conversation features a young man who is currently in recovery and is a treatment professional and recovery advocate.

Ben Gonzales will lead attendees in a discussion on recovery and substance abuse disorders, and says he has a really great story to share, according to a release. A panel discussion with addiction experts will follow, featuring:

  • Doug Carter, Superintendent of Indiana State Police; Governor's Commission for Drug-Free Indiana (DFI), Hamilton County Representative
  • Kim Manlove, EdD, Fairbanks Project Director for the Strategic Plan; Co-Chair Parent Advisory Board (The Partnership at Drugfree.org)
  • Brad Trolson, Recovery Coach with Hope Academy and Adolescent Services at Fairbanks
  • Jill Gonzales, Ben’s Mom shares the family perspective of addiction and recovery.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as doors (FH7 entrance) to the parents-only event open at 6:30 p.m., and there will be booths set up with local organizations sharing information and resources.
