Statewide Ivy Tech Announces New Five-Year Plan
Ivy Tech College plans to boost number of degrees, credentials and enrollment by 2023: Report

Ivy Tech Community College officials plan to more than double the number of degrees and credentials awarded each year over the next five years, the Indianapolis Business Journal reports. According to the news outlet, officials for the college system also hope to increase enrollment rates throughout the state by more than 25 percent by 2023. That plan, according to Ivy Tech President Sue Ellspermann, will launch next week, and is designed to increase Indiana's available workforce for the anticipated one million job openings by 2025, IBJ reports.
Ivy Tech is facing the challenge of increasing enrollment during a period of low unemployment, in addition to low graduation rates, two things Ellspermann's predecessor was reportedly scrutinized for.
According to IBJ, the community college's current unemployment rate is at 3.7 percent, and the school system's president says it's difficult to recruit students when they're employed.
