Student Asked To Enter Stranger's SUV: Hamilton County Sheriff

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said the involved student's father verified the suspicious vehicle's description.

FISHERS, IN — The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said detectives are investigating what they're calling a suspicious incident that took place Monday morning, Dec. 3 in the 20200 block of Cumberland Road. The sheriff's office said according to investigators, a student was at the end of a driveway waiting for their bus at 6:45 a.m., when they were encouraged by a stranger to get in an SUV and be taken to school.

According to the sheriff's office, information from detectives indicates the student was waiting for the bus when an older model white Ford Explorer pulled up, and the driver told the student that the bus driver had sent him to pick up the student due to missing the bus. However, officials said the student didn't believe the man's story and returned to the house while the man drove away.

The driver of the SUV is described as a black male in his mid-30s with a shaggy beard, balding hair, and wearing glasses, the sheriff's office said, adding that the vehicle was described as an older model white Ford Explorer with a dent in the tailgate and a possible missing or inoperable center break light. The student's father verified the vehicle description, officials said.
