Travel Advisory Issued For These Hamilton County Roads

The sheriff's department said people should use caution or avoid those areas.

HAMILTON COUNTY, IN — The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department announced a yellow level Travel Advisory has been issued for unincorporated roads in Hamilton County Sunday afternoon until further notice. The sheriff's department said this is the lowest level of local travel advisory and means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation. The sheriff's department said people should use caution or avoid the roadways and areas outside of cities and towns.

The National Weather Service is forecasting snow throughout the rest of Sunday and there have been several crashes and traffic incidents reported around the county.

The sheriff's department advises motorists to use extra caution when traveling and if possible stay off the roads so street crews can clear snow from the pavement.

"As a reminder with winter driving, reduce speeds, leave extra room between vehicles, make sure all windows are clear of snow and ice, turn on lights to increase visibility even during the day, and make sure to keep an emergency kit along with a fully charged cell phone handy," according to the sheriff's department.
