Parents Of Child Hurt In Bus Stop Crash 'Focused On His Recovery'
GoFundMe pages are up and running for bus stop crash victims, families.

ROCHESTER, IN — The parents of 11-year-old Maverik Lowe, the boy hurt in Tuesday morning's school bus stop crash in Rochester, have released a statement, according to Indiana State Police. Lowe and three other children were hit by a truck driven by 24-year-old Alyssa Shepherd as they walked to their school bus, resulting in the deaths of the other three kids, who are also siblings. Maverik's parents said:
“We would like to thank those who have prayed for our family and the families of those involved in yesterday’s tragedy. Maverik is currently in stable condition. Our family is focused on his recovery at this time and requests privacy as we heal together.
Fundraising is underway for the families and victims. GoFundMe pages for went up around the same time Shepherd left jail. WIBC said according to court documents, the woman posted a $15,000 bond Tuesday evening for reckless homicide charges, just hours after she was served an arrest warrant and taken into custody at work.

ISP said the arrest warrant out of Fulton Superior Court points to three felony charges of reckless homicide and a misdemeanor count for passing a school bus with the stop arm extended, causing injury, against Shepherd.

Indiana State Police Officers and the Fulton County Sheriff's Department responded to the single-vehicle crash at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday that resulted in the deaths 6-year-old Xzavier Ingle, his twin brother, Mason Ingle and their sister, 9-year-old Alivia Stahl. ISP said all three siblings died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, and Lowe (pictured up top) was flown by Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

According to police, the boy had to undergo surgery due to multiple broken bones and internal injuries.
As of Wednesday morning, Oct. 31, more than $15,000 of a $45,000 goal has been raised through a GoFundMe page created for Lowe's medical bills and other relief expenses.
A friend of the family who lost their three children has also created a GoFundMe page, and more than $43,000 of a $100,000 has already been raised by Wednesday morning.
The preliminary crash investigation revealed that Robert Reid, 46, of Claypool, Indiana, was driving a 2015 Thomas school bus from the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation. Reid was traveling northbound on State Road 25, when he stopped the school bus in front of a mobile home park at 4684 North State Road 25, ISP said.

According to authorities, Reid then activated the bus' stop arm and exterior lighting as he was picking up children from the west side of the road. As students crossed the road to get on the bus, the four children were hit by a southbound 2017 Toyota Tacoma driven by Shepherd, police said
The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to have a team in Rochester Wednesday to investigate the crash scene because it involved a school bus.
In addition to ISP and local departments involved Tuesday, support continues coming in for the families and community impacted by the horrific incident. Fishers Police Department Chief of Police Ed Gebhart told Patch, "The Fishers Police Department mourns with the families, community and schools of Fulton County."
