ATF Agent In Critical Condition After Being Shot In Gary
Authorities are in Gary where an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' Chicago Field Division was shot.

GARY, IN — An agent with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' Chicago Field Division was shot Thursday in Gary, ATF officials say. Officials say the shooting happened during an operation in Gary. WLS-TV reports an official said the agent is in critical but stable condition after being shot in the chest and the arm.
The agency tweeted that it is responding to the shooting.

WLS-TV reported that the area of 8th Avenue and Kentucky Street appears to be closed to traffic at this time as lots of police are in that area.

$51K Reward Offered For Capture In Shooting Of ATF Agent
This shooting comes just one month after Patch reported another ATF agent was shot during what law enforcement officials have called an "ambush" when the victim was working on a federal investigation with Chicago police officers in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood. Chicago police and FBI agents have announced a $51,000 reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest of someone in connection with the shooting.
