Child Among 2 Killed By Freight Train In Gary
A 7-year-old boy and his grandmother were killed on the way to school when the pickup truck they were in was hit by a train.

GARY, IN - A grandmother and her 7-year-old son were killed in Gary Tuesday morning when the vehicle they were in was struck by a freight train. The woman was driving the young boy to school when the tragedy unfolded on the tracks near Lake Street and Miller Avenue, according to an ABC-7 Chicago report.
The train involved in the apparent accident at 8:05 a.m. was a CSX freight train. No one on board was injured, the Times of Northwest Indiana reports.
The victims were in a pickup truck when they were struck by the train. They were pronounced dead at the scene, but have not been identified as of Tuesday afternoon.
