Gary School Employee Charged With Child Porn, Voyeurism

GARY, IN — A Gary middle school employee was fired Monday after he was arrested and charged with child pornography and voyeurism. WLS said 48-year-old Aaron Lopez Saldana served as an instructional assistant who oversaw the photography club at Lake Ridge New Tech School, according to school officials. The Lake County Sheriff's Office said police were contacted by a school employee after a student reported a former student at the school broke into Saldana's home, where he found pictures of young boys undressing, and took flash drives with video files, WLS reported.

According to WLS, police confirmed Saldana reported the burglary at his house, leading them to interview the suspect. According to the news report, police said the suspect's statements led them to obtain a search warrant for Saldana's home where authorities found photographs, video files, a hidden pinhole camera and photo negatives they said Saldana appeared to be burning when they arrived Saturday.

Saldana was charged with one count of child pornography, one count of child pornography with an aggravating factor found, one count of obstruction of justice, and one count of voyeurism using a camera. According to school officials, initial investigation details reveal nothing happened on school grounds, WLS said.
