Missing NW Indiana Girl Found Dead At Her Home

Alicia Karina Casares​ was found dead three days after her family reported her missing.

EAST CHICAGO, IN — A 15-year-old East Chicago girl reported missing Monday was found dead in her home on Thursday. East Chicago police said Alicia Karina Casares was last seen at around 6 p.m. Sunday leaving her home in the 600 block of 151st Street, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

A social media post was widely shared this week, saying the teen left her home at around 6:15 p.m. Sunday and asking anyone who spotted her to contact her mother or East Chicago police. Police said the teen needed medication and did not have it with her when she went missing.

Police said officers were called to Casares' home at around 2:40 p.m. Thursday for a death investigation, and a relative of the teen told officers she was found unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom.

Police and the Lake County coroner's office are investigating the 15-year-old's deaht.
