Styx made a stop at The Venue and the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond on Friday night.
HAMMOND, IN -- Fresh off a successful summer tour, Styx is closing out the year on a high note by making their way around the country and selling out venues in the process.
The Chicago-formed rock band was in Hammond, IN on Friday night for a show at The Venue at the Horseshoe Casino.
Continuing to promote their latest album, The Mission, which was released in June, Styx sailed through a setlist of 17 songs over a two-hour period on Friday, giving listeners a chance to reminisce with classics and also sample some of their new creations.

Energetic as always, Styx prepared for liftoff by walking out to “Overture”, the opening track on The Mission. The crowd was quick to rise by this time, as the group officially began part one of the show with another recent number, “Gone, Gone, Gone”.
More well-known radio hits “Blue Collar Man” and “Grand Illusion” followed, with another new track “Radio Silence” coming not long after that.

Following a journey through decades of the band’s well-known tunes, keyboardist and vocalist Lawrence Gowan payed tribute to the late Tom Petty towards the end of the show with a rendition of “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” using the help of the vocal audience, prior to “Come Sail Away”.
A confetti-filled finale with “Rockin’ the Paradise” and “Renegade” was a proper way to end the show and close out the band’s two-hour set, which was a perfect balance of both new and old music for the Indiana crowd.
