Prominent Hobart Attorney Shot Dead By Ex-Client Outside Home

Police said suspect is reported to be a longtime friend of Page's.

HOBART, IN — A well-known Northwest Indiana attorney was fatally shot in his Hobart home Wednesday morning. WLS reported 64-year-old T. Edward "Tracy" Page died of gunshot wounds around 11:45 a.m. in his home in the 1200 block of West Fourth Street, the Lake County Coroner. According to Hobart Police Department Lieutenant James Gonzalez, Page was outside his home, when police said an off-duty officer was in the area and heard screams and several gunshots, WLS reported.

According to the news report, police said it's not clear what led to the shooting, as the suspect, described as an 83-year-old man from Cedar Lake, was at Page's home with two of his daughters to collect family documents. WLS said he was tackled and disarmed by Page's husband, before being taken into custody at the scene. Police said he had been involved in a civil case and was a longtime friend and client of the attorney.

WLS reported police said they expect to file charges Thursday or Friday as the suspect is in custody at Hobart City Jail.
