Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Invests in Clean Air

Today, the American Lung Association in Indiana announced that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana has signed on as the presenting sponsor for the 10th anniversary of the Fight For Air Climb at Salesforce Tower. This is the fifth year that the company has sponsored the event, which has resulted in a significant investment that funds local programs to support clean air and healthy lungs.

The Fight For Air Climb, set for March 9, attracts thousands of Indiana residents who race up the stairs of Salesforce Tower (47 floors, 1,054 steps) in an effort to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.

“Through events like the Fight For Air Climb, we are able to fund our work to improve air quality, educate residents on lung health and help people who suffer from lung disease,” said Tanya Husain, executive director for the Lung Association. “But we can’t do it alone. Our partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield helps us provide vital support to our community. From funding asthma education, to providing resources to those suffering from lung cancer, this support makes people’s lives better every day.”

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is a health insurance plan provider that works with the state of Indiana to offer the Hoosier Healthwise (HHW), Hoosier Care Connect (HCC) and Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) health insurance programs for 386,000 Medicaid beneficiaries.

In Indiana, more than one million people suffer from lung disease, including more than 4,500 who battle lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.
