Candy Shop For Sale After 'Sexist' Job Posting Backlash: Report

The owner of Good's Candy Shop said "perhaps folks are right" after he was criticized for a job posting that characterized women as toxic.

ANDERSON, IN — After facing intense backlash for a Facebook job posting that many slammed as "sexist," the owner of Good's Candy Shop in Indiana is now saying the shop is for sale, according to a report by Indianapolis-based News 8.

In a help-wanted post shared on Facebook earlier this week, Randy Good, the owner of Good's Candy Shop, went from listing open positions to detailing his experiences with certain types of employee behaviors, including "laziness, manipulation, lying and worst of all combined, the splitters."

"Splitting is a behavior of girls, young mostly but not always," Good wrote. He went on to say, "This is where toxicity and drama find their roots."

The candy shop saga continued to unfold throughout the week.

In another deleted post, Good doubled down on stirring the chocolate fondue pot. On Tuesday, he posted an apology — not for what he said, but for the outrage and language in the comments section, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Another post followed Wednesday. This time, Good said he "poorly communicated his experiences."

"I am not perfect. I make mistakes. I've made one here. But only out of ignorance, not malice," Good wrote.

On Thursday, Good told News 8 that "perhaps folks are right."

“Maybe I posted it without enough thought. Maybe I didn’t select the right words. For heaven’s sake, I barely made it out of high school. It’s not like I’m a word genius,” Good told News 8.

As of Friday afternoon, the Facebook page for Good's Candy Shop had been deactivated.
