2-Year-Old Hit And Killed By Vehicle On Northeast Side: IMPD
IMPD said the fatal accident took place Jan. 28 in the 3200 block of Ashland Ave.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) confirmed a 2-year-old girl is dead after being hit by a vehicle that was backing up in a parking lot Monday on the city's northeast side. IMPD officers were called to the 3200 block of Ashland Avenue for reports of a personal injury accident just before 4 p.m. Monday, police said. That's where IMPD said officers found an unresponsive 2-year-old girl, before EMS personnel responded and pronounced the child dead.
According to IMPD, accident investigators responded and immediately started searching the area for witnesses, as the vehicle's driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Detectives learned during the investigation that the child was struck in a parking lot while a vehicle was backing up, police said.
Police said the driver was taken in for a blood test, which is a standard procedure for these incidents.
