Colts' McCain Pleads Not Guilty To Battery Charges

The pretrial hearing for Indianapolis Colts DE Chris McCain is scheduled for next month.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Nearly two months after signing with the Indianapolis Colts, defensive end Chris McCain pleaded not guilty Monday in Los Angeles to two counts of battery related to a January Incident involving a female. ESPN reported according to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, McCain, 26, was ordered in a term of release to stay at least 100 yards away from the woman involved in the Jan. 7 incident, in which the NFL player is accused of spitting on and grabbing her neck.

The Colts reported they signed McCain in May as a free agent, following his 2017 season with the Los Angeles Chargers, who ESPN said revoked their tender to him in April. The Chargers would not say if an incident led them to do so, but the team did say it had learned of an incident involving McCain before making its decision.
