DPW: Stay Alert Of Snow Plows Treating Indianapolis Area Roadways

NWS reports a storm system is on its way, bringing a light wintry mix into the area after midnight into Sunday morning.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works announced Saturday afternoon they will have 80 trucks pretreating roadways tonight across the area ahead of the wintry mix headed our way, and wants motorists to stay alert. DPW said a fully loaded snow plow can weigh up to 33 tons, which causes them to drive slow, and therefore take longer to stop and make wide turns. In a tweet, DPW advises motorists to maintain a safe distance to make the roads safer for all.
