Indiana Woman Fatally Shot In Front Of Son During Armed Robbery

The husband was also shot during the incident Thursday in Indianapolis as their 6-year-old son was hiding in the truck.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A Worthington woman is dead and her husband is in the hospital after they were robbed and shot in front of their youngest child Thursday in Indianapolis. According to an update on a GoFundMe page created by family friend Matt Yutzy, Jonathan and Wilma Hochstetler were in Indianapolis where they were working to fix a flat tire and wiring issues for the lights on their work trailer, when the they were both robbed, and shot.

According to WISH-TV, Jonathan was finishing up at a west side work site when he called Wilma, 40, for help Wednesday night. had sent his work crew home with his truck, and Wilma and the couple's son drove the truck back to Jonathan with a replacement tire for the trailer, the news report said.

Another family friend, Andrew Yutzy, told WISH-TV that two men with guns robbed the couple, taking their wallets and the wife's phone, around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, near the 3000 block of North High School Road. Andrew added that the suspects starting walking away, then turned around and shot the pair at "point-blank." Wilma died on site, and Jonathan was shot in the neck.

Their 6-year-old son, who was hiding in the truck, gave Johnathan his cellphone to call 911, according to the news report.

According to an update on the GoFundMe page, Jonathan is in the hospital and is expected to survive. He had surgery Thursday night, WISH-TV reported.

"The go fund me will be used to help with funeral and recovery funds," Matt Yutzy wrote. "Life will never be the same and this is a small way to help them. They have 3 daughters and the youngest child is a son. So please keep Jonathan and the 4 children in your prayers!"

As of Monday, afternoon over $148,000 has been raised for the family.
