Indianapolis-Area New Year's Eve Guide: Where To Ring In 2019

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — December flew by almost as fast as Santa's sleigh, and before you know it New Year's Eve will be here. Whether you're looking for somewhere to help celebrate the end of 2018 and bring in 2019, or you just aren't sure about current plans, here are several festivities taking place across the Indianapolis area during the long New Year's weekend, including local restaurant specials at the bottom:

Friday, Dec. 28:

• Bad Art Night, Garfield Park Arts Center- Indy Parks & Recreation (2432 Conservatory Dr), free for all ages, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 30:

• New Year's Weekend Comedy Festival, Indiana State Fairgrounds, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• Two shows by 'Smooth Jazz Saxophonist' Kim Waters, The Jazz Kitchen (5377 N. College Avenue), 21 and older, doors open at 5 p.m. for 7:30 p.m. show, and doors open at 9:30 p.m. for 10 p.m. show.

Monday, Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve):

• Countdown to Noon, The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Family New Year's Eve, Indiana State Museum, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball, Tin Roof (36 S. Pennsylvania Street), 7 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
• New Year's Eve Party with The Doo!, The Rathskeller; The Doo! performs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
• All Night Skate & Midnight Balloon Drop, Roller City (6445 W. Washington Street), beginning at 7:30 p.m.
• New Year's Eve: A Night at Studio 54, The Pavilion at Pan Am, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
• New Year's Eve Bash at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, begins at 8 p.m.

While Downtown Indy, Inc. recently announced it's suspending the annual New Year's Eve Celebration on Georgia Street after a four-year run due to "rising costs" of putting on a weather-dependent event, it's supporting a new partnership with Lyft Indianapolis for New Year's Eve.

Lyft's "Resolve to Ride Smart" effort will feature a rideshare lounge on Georgia Street where those interested in securing a responsible ride home or back to their hotels after midnight can wait in a warm, safe space steps away from that evening's Downtown New Year's Eve events.

According to Downtown Indy, Inc., the Lyft Rideshare Lounge on Georgia Street will include restrooms, hot chocolate, entertainment and New Year's giveaways.

'Cheers!'>> If ringing in 2019 over dinner and drinks is more your thing, these several chain restaurants have New Year's Eve specials. Several local Indianapolis-area restaurants are also taking reservations for Dec. 31, 2018.

One of the Indianapolis restaurants still taking reservations in addition to offering its full menu and a special New Year's Eve menu is Ocean Prime. According to a release, Ocean Prime's special New Year's Eve menu includes a Sparkling Pear cocktail, PEI Mussels and Little Neck Clams, Durham Wagyu Filet with Truffle Shrimp Scampi, Broiled Sea Bass over Lobster Risotto, dessert, and more.
