Indianapolis Area Shelters Open During Hazardous Weather Outlook
The National Weather Service confirms record-setting temperatures for Indianapolis as several local shelters and centers open their doors.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — If you live in the Indianapolis area you've probably noticed it's freezing outside. While the National Weather Service confirms Tuesday morning's temperature was -12 degrees, which ties the record for this date set in 1887, you've most likely already felt that if you've been out of your house or office. NWS reports bitterly cold wind chills of -20 to -35 has caused a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north central Indiana cities and counties through Tuesday night, including:

The NWS says bitterly cold air will continue across Central Indiana Wednesday through Saturday with dangerously cold wind chills of -10 to -20 and a chance for light snow Wednesday afternoon, and higher snow chances Sunday and Monday.
The NWS warns Indiana residents to take proper precautions by dressing warm, watching for black ice and limiting time outdoors for everyone including pets.
