Indianapolis Man Wins World Series Of Poker Main Event

John Cynn came out on top of the longest heads-up contest on record at the World Series of Poker Main Event.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — An Indianapolis resident is $8.8 million dollars richer after being named the 2018 World Series of Poker champion. WIBC reported Indiana University alum John Cynn won the no-limit Texas Hold 'em event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday. According to World Series of Poker's website, wsop.com, Cynn won against opponent Tony Miles after playing heads up for more than 10 hours, which WIBC added is now the longest heads-up contest on record for the main event.

Cynn, originally from Evanston, Illinois, won the multi-million dollar title - and a gold bracelet- two years after finishing 11th in the tournament.

The 2018 World Series of Poker main event, which WSOP reported had over 7,800 entries, has attracted the second largest field in the history of the tournament.
