Indianapolis School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Indianapolis is July 31. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Indianapolis Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 7/27 - 7/28: School Opening Preparation
• 7/31: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/5: No School for Students (Professional Development)
• 9/27: No School for Students (Parents in Touch Day)

October

• 10/2 - 10/13: No School (Fall Break)
• 10/16: No School for Students (Professional Development)

November

• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/14: Last Day of First Semester
• 12/15: No School for Students (Records Day), Flex Day
• 12/18 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (New Year's Day)
• 1/2: Second Semester Begins
• 1/15: No School (MLK Day)
• 1/16: No School for Students (Professional Development)

February

• 2/19: No School (Presidents' Day)

March

• 3/19 - 3/30: No School (Spring Break, 3/19 - 3/23 are Flex Days)

May

• 5/25: No School (Flex Day)
• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/7: Last Day for Students
• 6/8: Yearly Close
