Inmate Falls Through Ceiling While Trying To Escape Indiana Jail
According to the sheriff's department, the inmate's attempt to escape the facility caused "extensive damage" to the ceiling.
JACKSON COUNTY, IN — The Jackson County Sheriff's Department said an inmate at the Jackson County Jail tried to escape through the building's ceiling Monday night when officers were taking him to his holding cell. According to the sheriff's department, officers were taking inmate Blaze Ayers, 28, from the indoor recreation area to his cell in the jail's book-in area at 10:15 p.m., when Ayers ran into a medical room and locked the door. When officers entered the room through an adjacent door, Ayers had gone into the ceiling and refused to come down, the sheriff's department said.
