Alyssa Shepherd was charged with reckless homicide after authorities said she passed a school bus while its stop arm was out, killing three.

FULTON COUNTY, IN — The jury trial for an Indiana woman accused of running into and killing three Fulton County children and injuring another as they boarded a school bus in October 2018 was scheduled to start Tuesday, WRTV reported. Alyssa Shepherd, of Rochester, was charged with reckless homicide in November after investigators said she passed the school bus on the morning of Oct. 30 while its stop arm was out, according to police. She claimed she saw the flashing lights on the stop arm, but did not realize it was a school bus, police reported.
The crash resulted in the deaths of 6-year-old Xzavier Ingle, his twin brother, Mason Ingle, and their sister, 9-year-old Alivia Stahl. State police said all three siblings died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, which happened at around 7:15 a.m. Oct. 30.
Maverik Lowe, 11, also was hit. He suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries, police said. The boy continues recovering from the crash.
