Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry Resigns For Health, Family
More details including who the Marion County Prosecutor's Office said will take over the role as acting Marion County Prosecutor.

MARION COUNTY, IN — Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Monday that he will step down as Prosecutor. According to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutor is stepping down to focus on his health and family, as he's been undergoing treatment for prostate cancer since 2015. Curry's medical condition has made it necessary to scale back professional commitments to focus on both, according to the prosecutor's office.
Called a thoughtful, consistent and genuine leader by the prosecutor's office, Curry was first elected Marion County Prosecutor in 2010 and successfully ran for re-election in 2014 and 2018, becoming "what is believed to be the only three-term Democratic prosecutor in Marion County."
The prosecutor's office said according to state law, Chief Trial Deputy Ryan Mears will immediately take over the role as acting Marion County Prosecutor. Marion County Democratic Precinct Committee members will be called to meet within 30 days to elect an individual to fulfill the term through Dec. 31, 2022.
