'Santa's Elves' Fill Demand For Circle of Lights Ornaments: Photo

Downtown Indy, Inc. is turning mall area into 'Santa's Workshop' for elves to assemble more Circle of Lights ornaments: More

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — More than 30 volunteers, or "Santa's elves" are making spirits bright for community members Friday as they assemble 1,000 new ornaments in "Santa's Workshop". The reason? Downtown Indy, Inc. said limited-edition ornaments made with the Circle of Lights bulbs (before the current ones) were sold out in just a few months, so volunteers are making more - for a good cause. DII says proceeds from the ornaments are reinvested into downtown Indy's beautification and holiday décor.

The ornaments go on sale Friday night once they're finished and delivered, and can be purchased for $25 at Carson's Downtown or online.

DII says ornaments will be put together by "the elves" wearing festive holiday attire at Circle Centre Mall's fourth floor (Santa's Workshop) Friday afternoon. Santa will make an appearance at 1:30 p.m.

As shown in the picture above, each ornament's bulb color represents a branch of the military: Army (green), Air Force (clear/white), Navy (blue), Marines (red) and Coast Guard (yellow).
