DNR officers said the boy was playing near the creek May 23, when a witness saw him struggling in the water before being swept away.

CARROLL COUNTY, IN — Indiana Conservation Officers continue searching Friday morning for a missing 4-year-old boy from the Monticello area in Riley Park's Deer Creek in Carroll County. According to a release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the boy's name is Owen Jones. Dispatch received a report at 6 p.m. Thursday after a child was reportedly swept away in a flooded creek at the Delphi park, DNR said.
According to a release, the initial investigation revealed Jones – who was last seen wearing a blue sleeveless shirt and blue shorts – was playing near the creek, when a witness saw him struggling in the water before being swept away.
Officers responded to the scene and used a boat and sonar to search for the child, DNR said, with additional resources assisting. However, DNR said officers at the scene scene are urging the public to not go near the water to help with the search due to the dangerous elevated water levels and current.
