Start Time Pushed Back For Downtown Indy, Inc.’s New Year’s Eve
Details on several Indianapolis area New Year's Eve events including an important update to the city's biggest annual celebration.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- New Year's Eve will be here before we know it as we celebrate the end of 2017 and bring in 2018, and with it comes and an important update to the major annual downtown Indianapolis event, Downtown Indy, Inc.'s New Year's Eve Celebration (see below). Need plans? Not sure about your current ones? Here are several New Year's Eve festivities for families, children and adults 21 and older taking place Sunday, Dec. 31 across the Indianapolis area:

- The Indianapolis Colts will be in action, as they play the season finale against the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium Dec. 31 at 1 p.m.
- The Indiana Pacers will also welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 5 p.m. Dec. 31.

- Downtown Indy, Inc's New Year's Eve Celebration: NOW: 10:30 p.m. to 12:05 a.m. Downtown Indy, Inc. says after consulting with public safety professionals with the Indianapolis Fire Department, EMS and IMPD, the decision was made to delay the start of the event to 10:30 p.m. instead of the orginally planned 9 p.m. due to dangerous sub-zero temperatures predicted for NYE. Georgia Street closes to traffic around 6 p.m. Gates open to the public at Meridian and Georgia streets at 10:30 p.m. This outdoor event is not heated in any way and patrons are encouraged to dress for the conditions in layered, warm clothing, with skin covered. According to DII, more than 40,000 people are expected to celebrate New Year's Eve on Georgia and Meridian Streets with live music, a light show, dancing, food, drinks, fireworks and the unique "Indy-fied" midnight extravaganza featuring an IndyCar hoisted above the crowed, before it descends during the countdown to the new year.
- New Year's Eve Party with The Doo!: The Rathskeller, $50 in advance; $55 at the door Enjoy New Year's Eve with a hors d'oeuvre buffet, party favors and a midnight champagne toast at The Rathskeller. Doors open at 6 p.m., opening acts perform from 7 – 8:30 p.m. and The Doo! performs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- New Year's Eve Bash at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis: $55 - $90 Kick off 2018 at Hyatt Regency Indianapolis with one of three hotel and party packages. This action-packed night of entertainment and celebration includes several live musical performances on two stages, fantasy casino games and a massive midnight balloon drop in the center of the atrium lobby. Entertainment includes performances by The Flying Toasters, My Yellow Rickshaw, Corey Cox, Hunter Smith Band, DJ Brian Jackson, Casino Games and Pyramid of Enlightenment. The party begins at 8 p.m. and the dress code is dressy casual.
- New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball: Union Station, $49 general admission; $125 VIP Celebrate the 11th annual New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball with three parties for the price of one ticket taking place in three ballrooms within Union Station. The Big 80s in the Grand Hall will play all your favorite 80s songs; the Iron Horse Lounge will feature a drag show and "club-style" music provided by P3 Productions will take place in the Illinois Street Ballroom. The party begins at 8:30 p.m.
- New Year's Eve at The Vogue, 40th Anniversary: The Vogue Theatre, 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., 21 and older, $20 general admission, cash balloon drop, drink specials from each decade, DJ Marcus, live dancers, performers and higher prices for open bar and VIP table reservations. More: do317.com
- CÎROC The New Year Carnival: Regions Tower, doors open at 8 p.m., party starts at 9 p.m. Event's sixth year at the Regions Bank Tower, which features a 360-view of the entire downtown and Indy's only heated rooftop event space. $130 tickets include all-inclusive premium top shelf bar all night. - Pat McAfee Presents: A Ridiculous New Year's Eve: Old National Centre; tickets are $65 to $230. Celebrate the New Year with former Colts fan-favorite Pat McAfee at the Old National Centre. After the performance, stick around for the Egyptian Room's New Year's Eve party.

- Countdown to Noon: The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Admission varies. Experience all the fun of New Year's Eve at a reasonable hour. Celebrate the final day of 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with activities, music from Grammy-nominated musician Zak Morgan and countdowns to 2018 at noon and 1 p.m. Enjoy hats and other festive favors for the big moment while supplies last.
- Family New Year's Eve: Indiana State Museum, $15, $9 for members. The clocks are pushed forward and the New Year is celebrated early to allow children of all ages to enjoy the festivities. End the year with a family-friendly, alcohol-free celebration in the Governor Frank O'Bannon Great Hall. Enjoy jugglers, face painting and train rides from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the balloon drop at 8 p.m. Reservations for the event are recommended.
- New Year's Eve with ComedySportz: The Athenaeum Theatre, $20; $18 for students and seniors. Welcome in the New Year with the most unique comedy show around! There are two celebrations – the first from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the second from 10:30 p.m. to midnight (ending with a countdown to midnight) – and two live improvisation matches, where ComedySportz players battle each other for a prize.
- PAW Patrol Live! The Great Pirate Adventure: Old National Centre; tickets $28 to $128. Watch as the hit Nickelodeon television show comes to life on stage at the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre. With three shows Dec. 30 and two more Dec. 31, there are plenty of opportunities to see the show this festive weekend.
Carmel:
- New Year's Eve Extravaganza presented by Taft: The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts, 9 p.m., $95 and up. More: centerfortheperformingarts.org

- Zion Nature Center New Year's Eve: Join the Zion Nature Center as we have a "Hooting" good time celebrating the New Year a little early from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Zion Nature Center. Your family can raise a toast with some tasty juice, watch a balloon drop at Noon, and party with Nature Center friends during this year's owl themed celebration.
